TISD Programme - Publications

As part of FIELD's commitment to education and the promotion of international environmental law, its TISD lawyers have contributed to and edited a number of publications that are aimed at practitioners and scholars alike, and aim to give a clearer understanding of the complex issues involved.

Cambridge International Environmental Law Reports

FIELD lawyer Alice Palmer has co-edited the fourth volume of the Cambridge International Environmental Law Reports, which was published in January 2005. The volume collects together approximately fifty decisions of national courts from twenty-six countries, all broadly related to international environmental law. The cases cover a range of environmental issues, from protected species and habitats to activities having environmental impacts including mining, the construction of dams and the disposal of hazardous waste. The collection evidences different approaches to the relationship between domestic and international legal systems, and highlights many substantive and procedural environmental laws that are enjoying increasing recognition around the world. This will be a useful volume for academics, NGOs, governments and policy makers and anyone else interested in international environmental law.

"From Doha to Cancun: Delivering a Development Round"

See FIELD's former Trade Programme Director, Beatrice Chaytor's chapter in this publication, Paper 57 of the Commonwealth Secretariat's Economic Paper Series. Edited by Ivan Mbirimi, Bridget Chilala and Roman Grynberg, this compilation of papers looks at the delivery on the Doha Development Round, and highlights the key issues for the Cancun Trade Ministerial Meeting to be held in September 2003. The publication aims primarily to assist Commonwealth developing country policy-makers in preparing their positions for Cancun, but will also remain a useful assessment of the pre-Cancun Doha Round developments.
