Biodiversity and Marine Environments

The term biological diversity or "biodiversity" describes all living organisms on earth. Biodiversity is an essential component of our environment, and yet species are dying out at a rate higher than at any time in human history.

Pacific Delegation united

The Pacific delegation feels strong and united in the negotiations of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity. "2010 is an incredibly important landmark as it marks the ending target of current measuers to significantly reduce biodiversity loss.

 

FIELD receives Christensen Fund grant

FIELD has received a US$150,000 grant from the US-based Christensen Fund to strengthen the ability of Pacific Island countries to negotiate international legal regimes on biodiversity and climate change. The 2008-2010 project will focus on Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Fiji.
